Please note:
Of you want to place your opinion, use the voting tool. I will leave this open for a few days and then count "I agree/I disagree/I abstain". Likes are not counted as votes.I want to put something to discussion that I have been sitting on for quite a few weeks now. After all that thinking I still believe that with the advent of #
Osada and #
Zap and already seeing quite a bit of confusion about how they do or don't relate to #
Hubzilla and how or not all three will play together, substitute each other and what the heck all the fuzz is about ...
I suggest we do a slight rebranding towards the roof of #
Zot aka #
Zotlabs and officially calling the individual software products #
Zotlabs|Hubzilla #
Zotlabs|Osada #
Zotlabs|Zap. The positive side effect would be that we would automatically include Zot into our communication which I feel would addirionelly help to spread the word. And prove that Zot might be implemented into different products, even though we are still need to create some dev doco for people who'd want to add Zot to their own projects.
In order to not to lose the domain I have secured us zotlabs.org and already have set up a basic working #
Zotlabs|Hubzilla hub there with individual channels for each projects and connected all of them via channel sourcing with the frontpage zotlabs.org channel. It's here, it's working. Just as of now I am quite behind with filling the channela for #
Zotlabs|Osada and especially #
Zotlabs|Zap. I am even not yet sure how to handle the distinction as both are two different products sharing the same codebase and differentiate only during installatiin into the different projects that they are.
As of now I am actually
hiding
https://zotlabs.org
behind a blank page. You will even need to manually add "network" to the url to view it. I did this intentionally as I do in no way want to do things the community (that's you!) does not like when fiddling with such wide ranging decisions.
If you don't like the idea I am prepared to delete zotlabs.org without any hard feelings. It's just a move that I feel makes sense.
You can have a look via the directory:
https://zotlabs.org/directory
There are drawbacks.
The advantage:
We can use each project's synergy, for example when creating official howtos we ca say "applies to x y but not z" and have channel sourcing to the distribution of info posts of the articles etc
So now I am opening this up for discussion and voting.
Yes: I like that idea of moving zotlabs.org
No: No, each project is unique and should stay that way
