Is somebody willing to review the readme or code of and addon?

I am not a native speaker and would be glad if somebody could review at least the readme.

Ideas or comments on the content and the addon itself are very welcomed!

To get an impression how the addon feels you could visit this https://z.digitalesparadies.de/faces/faces live installation under ZAP. The code for Hubzilla is identical. So it looks the same under Hubzilla.

Maturity: I use the ZAP version of the addon for my family hub for quite a while now. and encountered no errors in the last time. The Hubzilla version is identical except very few functions. These function are separated using a single extra PHP file. In our use case the addon syncs the faces and names to a second hub, where some of our channels are cloned. The sync between clones is built-in. The hub for the clones has no face detection installed. This is not needed. Once the face detection was made I am able to view and tag faces without the Python scripts. The permissions will sync as well.

From the users perspective....

Features: There is no function I would personally miss. I tried to keep the UI as simple as possible. There is no text, just 5 permanent icons. Everything should explain themselves

Click on a frame around a face to name it
The addon shows suggestions the user can accept/deny/change
Icon 1: Click on the lock icon to set view permissions (long press for write permissions)
Icon 2: Toggle show/hide names (frames)
Icon 3: Filter icon to filter images for
- dates from and to
- Names using OR and AND search (this comes in handy to filter images showing the grandma AND granddaughter AND mother together)
Icon 4, 5: Zoom buttons to zoom pictures out and in
Double click a picture to view it full size

Appending to the URL
.../remove wil remove all your faces and names
.../stats will show some simple statistics

That's it for the user.

From the admins perspective...

The admin page does perform several checks when loaded

Python version
Finder one correctly working and what version
Finder two correctly working and what version
Exiftool correctly installed and what version
detailed installation instructions (copy/paste)

Furthermore the admin can

toggle both finders on/off
fine tune both finders (both have parameters for the detection and recognition of faces)
toogle exiftool on/off (exiftool writes tags into the exif data of an image)
remove all data for all users (clear all tables)
configure some default UI settings like zoom,...
show simple statistics

Ah,,, very important....

You can use real channels for tagging. The channel must be in your contact list AND the contact must be accepted (by both sides).

If you tag one of your contacts the addon will send a message containing a link back to your addon. The tagged contact

can click on the link and will see every image where he/she was tagged.
can remove themselves from the image (This can't be undone by you as the owner of the image The face is "untaggable" from now on. In case your contact has no permission to view the image a delete button is shown instead.)

There are some lengthy statements on privacy in the readme, including how it complies to the European GDPR (DSGV).
