If I post a private message to someone's wall, or use the !! to post to a forum and then visit the channel to which I posted the item, shouldn't *I* be able to see the message?

Did something change in the check of the observer code?

I've sent several "private mention" notes in the last couple of hours - logs show delivery - they show up on my own channel in my own stream - but if I visit the channels that I sent the messages to, I cannot see them.

The first was a message about a Merge Request for a new hook to the Zotlabs|Hubzilla Development forum. I sent a private message to Mario & Max about a separate issue, and I sent a private message to Mike because I ported the hook to Zap also and submitted an MR there.

As a test, I sent a private message between my Hubzilla channel and my channel in my own ZAP instance.

On my ZAP channel, I see my message from my Hubzilla channel, but if I remotely log into my ZAP instance and look at the wall of my ZAP channel, I do not see my message (using my Hubzilla ID logging into ZAP through OWA).

I thought that this used to work as I am expecting it to, but I've had my head buried elsewhere for long enough that I could be misremembering.

Or, maybe I've got just that much screwed up on my instances (though, I don't think so).

Any ideas?

Answer:  "Maybe" - unfortunately, if you're using any other social network as a guide for what to expect when you visit someone's channel page, you'll probably not see what you expect to see.

This is probably something that needs to be looked at more closely and some consensus sought to figure out what should appear when you visit someone's /channel page.  One thought is to leave the /channel page as it is and create a separate page that includes a wider range of items.

At any rate, here's my own list of what I think would be reasonable to include when I visit someone's /channel page:

1) Public posts written by the /channel owner
2) Private posts written by the /channel owner to which I am a party
3) Private posts written by me to which the /channel owner is a party
4) Public posts where the /channel owner is tagged

From a first read through the code, it appears that (1) is definitely happening.  (3) happens if I post directly to the other person's wall but not if the channel is mentioned or tagged.  So, the only other things that will appear are things that were posted directly to the /channel wall (or otherwise have item_wall set).   I haven't tested all the permutations to determine when/if (2) happens.  And (4) doesn't happen.

I guess this is intended to be the beginning of a discussion about "What do we want on the /channel page?"
