It would be nice if the protocols that Hubzilla uses, such as Zot and ActivityPub, could be extended to support additional information similar to how e-mail headers work.

Any sending e-mail client can add whatever e-mail headers it wants to an e-mail. Receiving e-mail clients can choose to use those fields or ignore them.

Such a setup would allow Hubzilla forums to communicate with each other without confusing other platforms.

Platforms that do not recognize the additional fields get a basic experience. Platforms that recognize the additional forum-related fields would get an enhanced experience.

#Zot and #ActivityPub are #RDF based, which is the most extensible model nowdays.

Can the icons of Zot and Zot-based Software be freely used on public websites for non-commercial purposes of public relations (like explaining things to newcomers)? I figure it is Open Source / CC0, but I want to make sure I do not infringe any rights or code of behavior in the dev community.

Hi all,

I'm looking into making a connector for hubzilla to another service, and the zot api looks like what I want. However, I'm a little confused about how authentication to it works. How do I get the auth token I need to make zot api calls?

Take your pick:

HTTP basic auth
OAuth1
Oauth2
OpenID Connect
OpenWebAuth

The endpoints are:

oauth1: /api/authorize, /api/token
oauth2/oidc: /authorize, /token
openwebauth: /owa

To create oauth clients: install the oauth1 or oauth2 apps from https://zotlabs.org/apps/available . Then you'll find the appropriate client management links on your settings page. Dynamic client registration is also available but this has only had minimal testing.
