'Channel manager': no context specific help available
'View profile' shows the main view of a default channel
'Edit profiles' shows context specific help and explanation of 'account', 'profile', 'channel'.
There is no 'profile manager' to show explicitly the various profiles of a specific channel; this could be helpful to minimise confusion and help users realise the flexibility available.
Is it a good idea to have separate 'profile manager', in addition to 'channel manager' within each account?

I would like to test hubzilla as an regional neighborhood portal.

How does the “Find Channels“ search work - It searches just in channel names right?

If would be nice if there could also be also a search for the location if there is information placed in the profile of the channel. Feature request: “A search by profile criteria”

Advanced Directory Search

On dev branch click the small settings icon in the navbar and enable the setting. Otherwise go to settings -> additional features and enable the setting there.

Feature request: “A search by profile criteria”

That's been available for about 5 years. There's not a lot of documentation but the directory has a large number of search options when using the "advanced search syntax". For instance "name=mike and country=australia and gender=male".

some more questions:

country=germany works so you have to use the english names - land=germany does not work.
but
hometown=Berlin does not give me any result either

for a neighborhood site it would also be good if not just "hometown" but also "quarter" would be a search citeria

it is good if the admin has the plugin "More Choice - 1.0" activated

it is possibel to seach for

postcode=xxx [Postcode or zip code contains xxx]

locale=xxx [Locale (typically 'city') contains xxx]

address=xxx [Channel address (webbie) contains xxx]

and more...

so it goes like this: locale=Berlin

Map/GEO coordinate in the Profile and a plugin which maps the Channels on a map

if you sett your location in > Channel settings>Basic Settings >Default Post Location
and you have the OpenStreetMap plugin activated
a click on the location namend in the post will show this one location on a map.
But this does not help if you are looking and searching for channels in your neighborhood
