Hi there,
As you may know i am working on Nomad, and the reason i am here is to ask about a bug that some people have when using Nomad.
It seems that some of them need to log in every time they colse the app. I searched a lot in what can cause it but didn't find anything. The app stores cookie to remember login. The thing is driving me crazy and asking here is my last resort.
To be clear i don't blame or think Hubzilla is the cause of that (i can't exclude it either), so maybe some of you can help me out here.

I am using a webview-based app for myself and have no issues with being logged out...

That's the thing. Me neither. (tryed it on 4 different phones)
Some users only have that issue.

I guess so. The thing that drove me here is that the people that has the issue with Nomad don't have it with Dandelion*.
ANd like you maight know Nomad == Dandelion*

Always in the calendar?! That's a starting point at least. I have occassionally been "bumped off" at strange times in the regular web interface - but I'm usually running 5-6 Hubzilla tabs at a time and sometimes make the mistake of changing users. Similarly, if I log into a remote hub I come back to my home hub and need to log in again.

I chalked it up to having too many windows open and the cookies/sessions getting confused. But I haven't been able to reliably replicate the issue, so tracking it down just gets pushed down the list until I can find a reliable test case that proves it isn't just me doing something dumb.

Are you able to relibaly reproduce the problem by following the same steps in a regular browser that causes Nomad to fail?

What browser engine is Nomad using?

I ask because I just ran a few tests and the BRAVE browser reliably "loses" my connection info if I try to connect to another Hubzilla instance (I don't even need to try to authenticate - just visiting a page on another instance will do it). I do not have this problem with Chrome or Firefox.

Since BRAVE is a new browser on the market - I expect it to misbehave sometimes - and so I just put it on the shelf and haven't really had trouble with logouts since (using Firefox). Brave uses Chromium, but I don't know what version of Chromium/Blink my current copy uses. I kind of haven't kept up - I love the browser and concept, but it's not doing what I need it to do and right now I just need it to work so I can get stuff done.

Since the behavior is so similar, my gut says these may be related or at least may have a similar cause --- maybe not --- but maybe.

Thats kinda scary, getting 'confused' about cookies and servers. An HTTP request and response is no different than SMTP, it's like a text document with headers and a body. Most people only see the body. Like an email program, but email can be a little more complicated because it usually has more than one body in the text file. HTTP might have this in multipart POST (like form submissions)

Yeah, I think I narrowed my problem down to BRAVE specifically. I don't think it's anything server wise with Hubzilla. The good thing is that it just seems to "forget" the cookie holding the session.

Just goes to show that you need to be aware of the entire toolchain. Kind of annoying. "Trusted computing in a trustless world." Ugh.

After logging in i am in the network stream and everything works fine.
Then I switch to CalDAV and get logged out.
I use Hubzilla's own calendar.

I use Android 6.0

Since Android 4.4 (KitKat), the WebView component is based on the Chromium open source project.

--- Brave uses Chromium as well... I'm starting to see a pattern - and I don't like it.

As long as I stay on the same machine in the same account, I can switch to /cdav/calendar and back to /network without an issue.

I see. It looks like there is nothing to do to resolve the issue for those unfortunate chromium users then. Or is it possible to change something in Nomad or Hubzilla to make it work?

Personally, I don't know. If there was a clue as to what was causing it maybe. I only was able to find a closed bug report from like 2014 that seemed to indicate the problem was resolved. Chrome doesn't have the issue.

I can't look right now, but I almost wonder if it isn't the CSP restrictions (note to self to look later unless someone else wants to try disabling them and testing)
